Our Story
Nicole Fischer is a 15-year-old living in Newton, Massachusetts. Her twin sister, Natasha, was diagnosed with Dravet syndrome, a severe form of epilepsy, at just 6 months old. Managing nighttime seizures can be challenging and uncomfortable, which inspired Nicole to create a solution for families and caregivers. At the age of 7 for her school science fair project, she designed a sock aimed to reduce false alarms and make the use of a pulse oximeter more comfortable for Natasha, who struggles with severe sensory issues. The sock proved to be highly effective for Natasha, who continues to use it today. In the spring of 2024, Natasha was hospitalized in the PICU for a severe case of Flu and pneumonia. During her treatment, the doctors noticed the sock and expressed great interest in the design. Inspired by their feedback, Nicole began developing The PulseSock that summer, aiming to simplify vital monitoring and seizure management for individuals and healthcare facilities around the world.
